Was it worth it?
Pac may be out for the rest of the season. He just returned from a six game suspension in which he punched one of his bodyguards in a drunken rage and left the state for alcohol rehab. What did this guy do for the team? The only thing I can remember Pacman doing is dropping a bucket of water on Felix Jones on HBO's Hard Knocks during training camp....from the second floor. That act could have turned out much worse that just picking on a rookie. The shock could have had an adverse reaction on Felix Jones, a heart attack, a violent seizure. Dumber things have happened, just ask Plaxico. Other than that, he may have recovered a fumble, led the team in pass deflects, and stunk up the special teams. Was it worth it? The allure of Pacman, i'll admit, seemed promising. I fully expected a punt return for a touchdown that would have changed a game or two. An interception return to the endzone with a familar "Prime Time" dance in honor of his mentor. At least a few bone crunching tackles the way the old Roy Williams used to, energizing the defense. None of that happened, and i'm left with a big fat waste of space (between his ears) injury for the remaining three games in 2008. Way to spend the cash Jerry. I'm for cutting Pac, maybe the Lions pick him up. He seems a better fit in Detroit anyway.
The Loss
The one bright spot in the loss to Pittsburgh was Tashard Choice.
The rookie was fearless. He took on that defense and almost broke a few. The Steelers were worried about him in the second half and tighten up, which should have opened up the passing game. Either the wind or Tony Romo screwed that up. Tashard is good enough that with Marion Barber and Felix Jones, they improve the backfield beyond what the Giant's three headed monster can do. My feeling is that if Marion can't go, then Tashard will do the job. My concern last week was that he would be the lone back and the added pressure might cook the rookie. But his play proved me wrong, and I was pleasantly delighted with the results. The loss was not on Tashard Choice. A defensive gate that opened up in the last 7 minutes and fubar play by Tony Romo or Jason Witten cost us the game. I'm very please with this year's draft. Most have made an impact, unlike Adam Jones. Next year will be something. I fully expect a 13-3 season, NEXT year. As for the last three games, my spidy sense tells me that 2-1 is not out of reach. Unfortunately, the Cowboys will probably need a 3-0 run to make the playoffs. Anything is possible and i reserve hope, but I must expect more of the same from this cast of boys. If history repeats itself, and they do make it, then history will repeat itself and they will have a first round exit. All I can say is WADE PHILLIPS, prove me wrong.
Trinina the player hater
The only reader that would be happy with this result is my good friend Trinina Collins. She's been a Cowboy hater for the better part of twenty years. I hope you're happy Trinina! It's not over yet, but as Trinina would say, I'm rooting for whoever is playing the Cowboys. My pick for the next game, Cowboys 31 Giants 24. Suck on that T.
