It's all over.
Now is the time when we look through sick spring/summer months before another game. Sure, there will be the draft, very few, compelling stories to sift through. A Pacman story or two. But now is the hour of our discontent. Sunday will once again be an empty shell of a day. What will we do for the 12+ hours that used to be dedicated to watching football on the holiest of days. Fantasy points and trash talk. Loud cheers from a touchdown. Prayers before the snap for an interception, then bragging that your middle name is "Nostradamus" when it actually happens. Having to live through six months of the knowledge that an average football team took home the trophy this year. That's right, I said it. Average.
Like I said, it's over. Done with. Tony Romo said some things he regrets, and Troy Aikman set him straight. TO is TO and Pacman is gone forever (with JJ, never say forever). We will dump a "Tank" and a fool that was named after an 80's video game, and the healing will begin. Now if only mean ole Wade can shut Roy Williams up. Detroit practices better than the Cowboys do? 0-16 Roy. I guess talent does make a difference. As much as I hate that statement, he may have something. Roy's one example was when running plays in Detroit, all wide receivers block downfield. That doesn't take place in Dallas. In this, I have to agree. You practice what you do in the games. Roy will continue to do this, according to him. The second comment he's made is how easy the offense is to read. He is not alone in this, as Tony and TO have express this very thing. Ray Lewis said as much before the last home game at Texas Stadium, then went out and proved it. While this may be true, and the departure of Tony Sparano appears to have hurt the Cowboys more that we know, we don't need our team players broadcasting it out for all to hear. I respect what Roy has said, but enough already. Take it to the team, take it to the coach, if you're concern is valid, i'm sure he'll do something about it. It's his job. And if he can't, then he needs to be replaced. Wade has made the promise. Not many believe him. I for one, have to give him the benefit of the doubt simply because we don't have any other options. We, as fans, have no say. It's all up to JJ, and he's blazed a trail for the last 13 years. Not one playoff win. No satisfaction. So until JJ wakes up and realizes, "Wait a minute, I fired Tom Landry and Tex Shramm for the same reason!" We're all screwed. They can look great on paper all they want. Paper don't win Championships. Defense does, as the Cardinals painfully proved a few weeks ago.
* Dan Reeves- A lot of people want to say that Jerry Jones didn't want to give up any power, and that's why the deal fell through. They may be right, but think about what Dan Reeves could have brought to Dallas. Exactly. No disrespect to Dan, a great football person. But it would be like hiring Chan Gailey for advise. We'd be better off hiring Ray Lewis to consult. Doesn't matter what team he plays with, just have in via Satellite to pump up the team. And if we still lose, Ray Ray can pick out five players that contributed to the loss, and kick them in the nuts.
* Wide Receivers- Dallas Wide Receivers have been in the news as of late. Let's start with Michael Irvin: Reality show. Ok fine, gives up a roster spot in training camp. Let's see how long that lasts. TO: Reality show. They follow him around during the season. Potential disaster. Reality show producers filling TO's head with malice trying to come up with exciting TV. TO may get arrested, you heard it here first! Speaking of arrests, ex Cowboy Wide Receiver Terry Glenn: Naked at a hotel with a "turkey bag" of marijuana, and of course drunk out of his mind. Dude, Bill Parcels really messed this guy up. Patrick Crayton: Talk trash all year long, and do nothing about it on the field. Good Job, now shut up. There is a lot to be said about a player who will got out and maintain a high performance on the field, and keep his trap shut. Take a look at Jason Witten, Patrick. Take a good long look, and shut up. Roy Williams: Shut up and get open. If they play is run your ass down the field all day long and never get the ball, then run your ass down the field and shut up. You get paid remember? You get Jerry Jones money. There should be fines, strike that, heavy, high dollar fines for Cowboys that want to talk. Right Marty B?
* Ray Lewis- Not gonna happen.
* A REAL honest to goodness GM- Not gonna happen in REAL, Honest, or goodness.
* Superbowl 44- Will Dallas get six. Email me with your answer at DallasCowboyNation@gmail.com
