Remember this day Cowboy fans, October 14, 2008. Today changes everything. After the heartbreaking loss to the Cardinals, and a disappointing break of the most famous pinky finger in the world, there is hope. Two days later, Jerry Jones to the rescue. I’m here to tell you Nation, both of today’s headlines will change the path to the Super Bowl.
Headline #1 Roy Freaking Williams
Roy Williams, not #38, but the Detroit Lions #1 receiver, is now a Cowboy. This is great! Fantastic news, imagine if you will, the closest player in build to Michael Irvin. His potential is phenomenal. This is a game breaker for the Cowboys. Jerry Jones has made a statement that NOW, not later, not next year, but NOW is the time for a Super Bowl. Grant it, this will take some time. Roy needs to learn the offense, and Tony needs to get healthy. But once they are both on the field and can gel, this great offense will explode. We now have two excellent running backs, one incredible tight end, and two top receivers. We have an offensive line that did falter in the desert, but is resilient. They will tighten up. I know they feel responsible for what happened to Tony Romo, this will not happen to Brad Johnson. What more can a QB ask for? Even the great Brett Favre, called Tony Romo today, urging him to play on. But more on that later.

Welcome back Cowboy Nation Fans! It’s Friday, October 17, 2008.
Tony Romo is practicing, today we’ll find out if he can take a snap. Yesterday we learned that even with a splint he was able to whip the ball out with normal velocity. As Troy Aikman would say, “there is no question” that Tony Romo is as tough as they come.
Following the opening game of the season TR sported the chin patch after being sandwiched between two beefy Cleveland Brown defenders. He stayed in the next play, and eventually led the Cowboys to a score on that drive. Even after the game, he was kind enough to pull over and help an elderly couple change a tire, after numerous motorists ignored them.
This guy is the real deal. There is not a sport columnist out there that will refute his toughness, leadership, and all around jokester of the Cowboy’s family. (See Pepsi commercial where TR has been doubled in size) TR is the new Captain America, after a sea of lieutenants that included a couple of baseball players and Quincy Carter who, let’s face it, was probably a 1st class private. So it was no surprise that he is attempting to play this weekend against the Rams with a broken pinky finger. Isn’t “pinky” the name of one of Pacman’s ghosts? Not sure about that, what I am sure of is TR should not play this weekend. It’s a testament to his toughness as a player, but risking losing him for more than a month due to further injury is, well, risky. We do not want to be in a position of hoping for TR to return before the end of the season. A rusty Romo leading the Cowboys to yet another possible loss in the first round. He needs to be ready. He needs to get focused. And quite frankly, TR has had a lot of trouble holding on to the ball. Do you really think a broken finger is going to improve that problem? I think a game off will do a world of good for Tony. He needs to build the desire with his own personal bye week. I guarantee he will come back a week rested, ready and will not fumble with his next start. I’m not going to guarantee an interception free game, because we all know that’s not going to happen. But Tony will tuck it away.

Burn baby Burn.
They say in any major fire, walk don’t run to the nearest exists. So when every major sports media chain declares panic in Big D, only the fair-weather fans will run. Is there reason to panic? Oh yes, yes there is. Am I going to run out of the building with my hair on fire? Hell no. I want you to know Nation, that I sat through that whole game, second by painful second, experiencing in disbelieve as I’m sure all Cowboy fans did, the absolute horror so close to Halloween. No, I won’t run, I will stand by this horrid affair, but I’ll tell you what I want Nation.
I want the head of Brian Stewart.
Why? Why do you ask, why would I want something so absolutely ridiculous 7 games into the season? Because somebody has to pay, that’s why. Because Jerry Jones has already declared that Wade Phillips’ job is safe, as well it should be (barring a few more blowouts). But we lack the intensity on the defensive side of the ball. Listen, I know the offense was every bit as guilty in that ridiculous loss to the Rams. The Offensive line lost focus. Run blocking, pass protection was off. WAY OFF. Three interceptions and a few fumbles. Careless mistakes and costly penalties. But I guarantee you; no one will call for Jason Garrett’s resignation. And special teams haven’t been special at all. Kick returns for touchdowns against us, blocked punts. And the latest missed field goal, this is all too much. Maybe Bruce Read, the Special Teams coach should go too? Have you seen this guy’s picture on Dallas Cowboys.com? He looks like a 70’s porn star. Trust me, take a look, I’ll wait. See, I’d never steer you wrong. Off with his head. Bring back that old corps Joe Avezanno, BRING BACK SOMEBODY WITH THEIR HEAD SCREWED ON STRAIGHT AND WHO IS LOOKING TO WIN FOOTBALL GAMES. Sorry guys, I went a little Jonesy there.

On Target
Nation, I have done it again. I have called out the correct scapegoat in the Cowboy fiasco. No, not Ms. Pacman, who is out there somewhere, talking about his feelings in rehab. No, no Tony Romo, who saw how much protection Brad Johnson got against the Rams and said, “Screw that, I’m out till November”. No, not Roy #38 Williams who had the nerve to re-break his forearm. Not the team defense who said “Ole” with a giant red cape to Steven Jackson and Rams. No Nation I called out:
Brian Stewart.
This joke of a Defensive Coordinator is officially on Notice. Coach Phillips removed the “play calling” portion away from Stewart, mainly at Jerry Jones’ request. He has been reduced to coming up with a game plan, which should be heavily influenced by Coach Phillips, Coach Campo, and the other, more experienced coaches on the defense. Let it be known

Right again.
They said it couldn't be done. So many people said that Dallas would
lose, that Tampa was an up and coming NFC monster. Too many injuries
they said. Brad Johnson throws to many interceptions. The O line
won't hold up. ESPN, Fox sports, Showtime's Inside the NFL, all the
experts picked Tampa to win. Then Wade Phillips got involved. And he
proved them wrong.
We all know what was holding them back Nation. Say it with me….one
bad coordinator: Brian Stewart. Oh, Bri Bri celebrated out there
like we won the NFC Championship. But let's face it, it wasn't
because of him. His defensive schemes have hurt us in the last 4
