With wide receiver Miles Austin likely to be out at least two weeks with a knee injury, it is time for Patrick Crayton to step up and fill the void. The forgotten receiver, due to the additon of Roy Williams and the versatile play of Miles Austin, will most likely play in the slot and become a greater part of the offense.
In 2007, Crayton recorded a career-high 50 catches, 607 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns. With Roy and T.O. getting double-teamed most of the time, this could provide Cratyon with numerous opportunities for big plays. Untimely dropped passes have plagued Crayton's career, with no bigger drop than in the 4th quarter of last year's playoff loss to the Super Bowl NY Giants.
Crayton needs a good second half of the season to justify the contract extension that he signed through 2012. Otherwise, he could be on the outiside looking in going into 2009.
