The former Seattle Super Sonics just unvield their new name and color scheme today. I have to say that choice was not shocking and still sucks. They are now known as the Oklahoma City Thunder. They will be wearing blue, red, and orange. I just think the name is boring. Wow, the Thunder. Then again, I'm not a big fan of team names that don't end in S. I feel bad for everyone in Seattle, because they stole your team. Then they took that team and named them something stupid.
I know that Uni Watch covered this a while back. The people on that site came up with much better names and designs, I have to say. I can't remember who said it, but they could just been the Oklahoma City. They would be The City. A play on the most beautiful jersey ever, worn by the old Golden State Warriors teams. At least it was creative. In lieu of this, am I the only person that thinks the NBA has too many teams that wear blue. Off the top of my head they are:
Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzles, Atlanta Hawks (that was recent), Golden State Warrios, New Jersey Nets, Cleveland Cavilers (they wear the blue alternate more than the red aways), New York Knickerbockers, Detriot Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Bobacts, New Orleans Hornets, Minnesota Timberwolves (who also got new unis), Utah Jazz, and now the Oklahoma City Thunder (I still hate that name). I did not count the Philadelphia 76ers, or the Los Angles Clippers, because I know they had blue alternates, but I wasn't quite sure if they still wearing them for this coming season.
If you do the math that is 16 of 30 teams. That's more than half blue!
