Dallas Cowboys Week 3: The Best of Both Worlds

Welcome! This is my first official blog and I plan on updating at least two times a week.  My Best of Both Worlds section will focus on the best offensive player and best defensive player of the week.  Let's begin!

Best Offensive Player of the Week:

This week's best offensive player award falls to Marion "the Barbarian" Barber.  With T.O. limited to only two catches and Tony Romo not looking like his Pro-Bowl self, Barber and the running game carried the offense.  He ground pounded his way to 142 yards and a touchdown in only 28 rushes.  His performance gave proof that the Cowboys are definitely contenders, even if the passing game is suffering.

Special honors go to Miles Austin and Felix Jones.  When Romo started playing like his normal self, he was able to connect with Austin for a 63 yard pass (that set up Barber's TD) and a 52 yard touchdown pass.  Felix Jones rushed a 60 yard touchdown in the second quarter, putting the Cowboys over the Packers permanently.

Best Defensive Player of the Week:

This week's best defensive player is Anthony Henry. Henry was responsible for two sacks on Aaron Rodgers on critical fourth quarter plays that stopped any potential Packers comeback.  It was a great defensive effort and it was apparent that the defense was beginning to click and play to their full potential.

Special honors go to Adam "Not Pacman" Jones. He played excellent defense, covered routes very well and even stripped the ball from Ryan Grant on the initial drive of the game.  Jones was responsible for stopping a potential 3rd down conversion that could have given the Packers a chance to score late in the game.

I'll be back later this week to provide a preview of the upcoming match between the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Redskins, a classic rivalry.  It should be noted that up and coming Aaron Rodgers was held to no touchdowns, and the Packer's running game was almost non-existent.  How 'bout them Cowboys?!

  1. Nicholas, I would give the awards to Terrell Owens and Anthony Henry.  As far as Barber is concerned, he is not all that and a bag of chips...he is average.  He just looks good behind that line...lets not "annoint" him as the next E. Smith.  Barber will eventually break down because of the way he plays...I (and I know I might be the only one) am not a fan of Barber.  Owens didn't light it up, but he had some great blocks, and opened up the middle for Witten and also let Miles Austin have man coverage.  Owens also had a great effort on the tackle after Romo's INT.  Best of all he was okay with it!  Henry was great, not only the sacks, but in coverage also.  With T-New, Henry never gets the accolades he deserves.  Nice post, I enjoyed reading it!
