Jeff Garcia

Well now that the fans have had some time to adjust to the firing of Head Coach Jon Gruden, what is the mood like in Tampa?

I understand that teams struggle, and that many times coaches pay the price for it. I'm just not so sure that letting Gruden go was the best thing to do. While Tampa has been up and down the past few years there is more to notice than just Grudens ability or lack there of. in this modern era of winning and championships, Gruden has got to be heralded as the greatest coach in Bucs history delivering their only Super Bowl in 2002. They have had several playoff years in his tenure, and despite an unexpected collapse at the end of this season were on pace to make the playoffs again safter starting 9-3.

Patriots won't let him go considering the seriousness of Tom Brady's knee injury (remember Pep?!)

Jeff Garcia: Probably the only intriguing option of the bunch.  However, Garcia is terribly injury-prone and quite old...he can't stick around for much longer.  Thus, he would only be a stop-gap.

One Giant Win

The bickering Cowboys banded together as a unit on Sunday night to hand the New York Giants their second consecutive loss.  This was one exciting win as Tashard Choice once again proved that he is for real.  No Felix Jones?  No problem as Choice delivered in the fourth, a quarter that is usually reserved for Marion Barber.  Barber was not himself, he finished with 8 rushes for 2 yards.  That's an average of 0.3 yards a carry.  Choice on the other hand was 9 for 91 yards and a touch.  His average carry was 10.1 yards.  Big difference.  It's safe to say that without Tashard Choice, the Cowboys falls back into the same type of game that they had against the Steelers, and blow another late lead.  The truth is this team played together, all the worthy components charging as one unit.  Romo battling through a back contusion, and coming back to score.  As he did against the Browns in game one, remember the taped chin?  Witten converting on that 3rd and 9 late in the game.  This was the game winner, Choice adding to it on the next play just icing on the cake.  The Defense was great.

on this one, as I don't ever remember him playing dirty.  Now, the hit that Ray Edwards put on Jeff Garcia last week...that's a different story.

I'm glad that Mr. Allen will continue to

success (and MN's ultimate failure) can be found by examining both quarterbacks.

Let's start with Jeff Garcia...we all know that, in order for the Vikings to win most games, they must have a dominating performance from the defensive line, as the secondary plays a great deal of zone coverage and thus yields many wide-open receivers if the opposing QB has enough time to release the ball.  The Vikings' D-line actually played extremely well on Sunday, but could not accomplish the vital task of their mission...sending Garcia to the turf.  Although Jared Allen, Kevin Williams, and Ray Edwards (among others) had Garcia running for his life most of the afternoon, Garcia (with his nimble feet and smooth mobility) was ALWAYS able to buy enough time to find the open receiver downfield.  Besides the infamous Michael Vick OT touchdown scamper of '02, I don't think I have seen a QB dodge and dart away from pressure as well as Garcia did.  Pretty impressive for an old fogey like him.

se.  In the past, comments like these could be seen as a coming rift in the team:

With Jeff Garcia T.O. questioned his ability to pass him the ball and his sexuality.

With Donovan McNabb T.O. questioned McNabb's ability to play in game's that really mattered.
