ts; they are trying to change the momentum of the football game.  Last week, immediately after Matt Schaub threw a pick-six to the Colts, he was stripped on the next drive by Mathis and the Colts went on to increase their lead.  The Texans were up by 17 points at one point, but a series of turnovers completely changed the game.  The Cowboys often seem satisfied with just getting the sack, and that is not how championships are won.  If you can get to the quarterback, you can get to the ball.  Even if you’re just inches away from the quarterback, the ball is often in reach…knock the damn thing out!

As football fans across the globe cast their longing eyes in the direction of the April draft, I decided that now might be a good time to reflect on draft classes of the last 10 years. Too often in this business, we rush ahead to the next big event without taking pause to evaluate the past and learn from it. In a way, this study will still be a celebration of the coming 2009 draft as I believe it will shed some light on certain overlooked trends that no one ever stops to consider. I will begin with a class by class showdown of sorts at the quarterback position over the last 10 drafts.  This is part III in the series:

Matt Schaub returned from his MCL injury suffered during the road game at the Vikings (Nov.2nd) and threw for a franchise-record 414 passing yards in the freezing temperatures. The headline following the game on the 'YahooN! Fantasy Sports' page called Schaub a "Cool Customer". Accurate to the tee! Despite the 400+ yard day for Schaub, the Texans turned the ball over 4 times. Most times that would equal a loss in the record books, but the Packers didn't play good football. They scored all of their 21 points off Texans turnovers. Houston escaped with a 24-21 victory with a game-winning field goal from kicker Kris Brown.

onic? Because Haynesworth was the same player that had 'suspicious' hits against Texans quarterback Matt Schaub before last season in the same stadium! (Reliant Stadium). Official diagnosis of Haynesworth's injury has not been released, but the replay was not too pretty. Titans will need him by their first playoff game!

The running game has been very productive and Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson have started their own airline company. Schaub-Johnson Airlines has flown more than Southwest flies from Houston to Dallas.

Vikings 28 Texans 21

This was a game the Texans could have won despite Matt Schaub suffering an MCL injury in the second quarter due to a hit by Vikings' Jared Allen. Sage Rosenfels took over and led the team for a touchdown on the first drive after half-time, but those would be the only points for the Texans in the second half as their 3 game winning streak was snapped. The story remains the same: Texans play pretty good at home, but playing on the road has not netted good results.

1. Matt Schaub (HOU)—The former Cavalier has been on fire the last few weeks. Really, since the loss at Tennessee in week two, Schaub has played like a Pro Bowler. The reason he tops my list here is because he was called just about every name in the book those first two weeks. No one seemed to realize that he’d gone against two of the most dominant defenses in the league (PITT,TEN). Still, he hasn’t come out roaring about vindication and having the last laugh, which is what most of us would do in his situation. Instead, he’s just let his play do the talking—and it’s spoken volumes.

Texans 35 Bengals 6

Matt Schaub was near perfect and so were the Texans in this one. Bengals showed no sign of...well anything after the first half as Houston demolished Cincinnati. Texans have won 3 straight (the first time in Franchise history) as they fly up to Minnesota to take on Adrian Peterson and the Vikings on Sunday. Bengals on the other hand, drop to 0-8 and take on the Jacksonville Jaguars at home as they try to get a win on the board.

Fourth down and 10 from the Titans 11 yard line, Matt Schaub threw an interception and it is returned for a touchdown.

These were just the ones that directly cost the Texans points. They don’t even count the fourth and ten from the Titans 48 that was intercepted also.

 Houston Texans vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on opening Sunday. Matt Schaub. Andre Johnson. This was going to be good.

      The feelings of excitement that I felt at 11:59am this morning quickly vanished. I don’t know about you, but within an hour, a string of events ruined this Sunday. Most of this was due to the Texans performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But other factors were also at play.
