Miles Austin

nse has the talent and ability to score a lot of points, and I believe they will with the return of Miles Austin to the lineup.  The defense has the ability to be one of the best in the league, but we don't know what they'll do from week to week and who'll be available. The special teams has spiraled downward the last few weeks, but those problems are fixable.  Overall, this team has struggled to close out some games, but they have also come back to win some close quality games.

sp; I don’t think the Cowboys need a starting receiver right now.  With the emergence of Miles Austin and the untapped potential of Roy Williams, and Kevin Ogletree I think you have a solid receiving core that can continue to make plays.  But when you are dealing with a pass rush as fierce as Minnesota you need a plethora of guys who cause match-up problems over the middle so plays can be made quickly and efficiently.

Miles Austin is his deep threat, but Jason Witten and Patrick Crayton continue to be huge 3rd down targets.  Even Roy Williams is looking in sync with Romo, catching a bullet pass that was way over his head.

that playbook a little bit more.  There were a couple of times in the game where they motioned Miles Austin into the backfield but refused to give it to him.  Marion Barber was able to pick up the first down the first time they showed this look, but he was stuffed on the same play later on in the game.  The Cowboys just got too predictable.  They ran the ball on 1st down nearly every time in the first half and every 3rd and short play as well.  You have to keep those defensive players honest by actually running a reverse on occasion.  A flea-flicker or double-pass might not be a bad idea either.

) and Garrett is simply going to have to put in more creative calls.  Where is that reverse to Miles Austin and Patrick Crayton?  Where was the Wildcat on the goal line?  Where the hell was Marion Barber?

the sand with all of his other receivers and freezing him out.  Then he had this to say about Miles Austin’s recent success:

"I'm the No. 1 receiver," Williams said. "But things are just going No. 2's way."

the receiving game.  Jason Witten has been held under wraps for the most part this season, but Miles Austin’s recent success along with Philly’s inability to cover the tight-end should open up some holes in the middle.  Romo friendly

At this juncture, Miles Austin made the first big play in what would be the making of the legend of Miles Austin.  He caught the ball on a slant route, broke a couple of tackles and scampered 59 yards for what looked to be the game winning touchdown with about 2:15 left in the 4th quarter.

After the last few years I’m beginning to wonder how many times I’ve thought to myself, “The Cowboys should have won that game.”  So many big games come to mind:

boys are definitely contenders, even if the passing game is suffering.

Special honors go to Miles Austin and Felix Jones.  When Romo started playing like his normal self, he was able to connect with Austin for a 63 yard pass (that set up Barber's TD) and a 52 yard touchdown pass.  Felix Jones rushed a 60 yard touchdown in the second quarter, putting the Cowboys over the Packers permanently.
