guys either.

2.)    Wide receiver

I know that I was extra hard on Roy Williams this year, but unlike everyone else, I am going to give him a pass this year.  I think he has ability and will be a better receiver, but they still need to continue to build the receiving corp.  They need a receiver that can get open quickly over the middle, the “Wes Welker type” if you will.  But you don’t have to get that guy anytime before the 3rd round.  I don’t think the Cowboys need a starting receiver right now.  With the emergence of Miles Austin and the untapped potential of

The Vikings had a great regular season, but were beginning to see a bit of slump towar

he playoffs.

One thing that can’t seem to be fixed is the ineptness of wide receiver Roy Williams.  Although he did catch a touchdown pass, it was the only pass he caught all game long, and Tony Romo did all the work on that play by escaping the pressure an throwing a picture perfect pass to Williams in the corner of the end zone.  All Roy had to do was catch the ball (I mean he is getting paid $9 million a year to catch passes, right?).  But it was disappointing to see Tony Romo’s non-interception streak (5 games) come to an end after an o n target pass to Mr. Williams.  Not only did he drop a ball that was right in his hands, he managed to pop it up in the air so awaiting Redskins defensive backs could feed off of the miscue.  I can’t even put into words how big of a disappointment Williams has been thus far and I just hope that his poor play and poor attitude doesn’t cost the Cowboys a game over the next month.

while it lasted.

-          Is it safe to say Roy Williams is a bust yet?  I’m going to go out on a really strong, thick, sturdy limb and say “Yes!”  Jerry Jones won’t admit it publicly but he knows that this is not working out.  And you can talk about chemistry and getting on the same page all you want but it doesn’t take this long for a good receiver to start making an impact.  He’s a decent number two receiver but he’s not worth the money.  The Cowboys need to keep looking for receivers in the draft and make sure they bring in a young prospect.  These rookie receivers are getting better every year (Desean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Percy Harvin, Andre Caldwell, and Louis Murphy) and the Cowboys do not need to miss out on the next crop. One of Deion Sanders’ “babies” Dez Bryant (hyperlink) is sure to drop  a couple spots because of his suspension and the Cowboys should really look into trading up to get this kid.  Just think, if they hadn’t traded away their first round pick for

If the Dallas Cowboys do not defeat the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, then they will not make the playoffs.  At least that’s what ESPN’s Michael Smith implies as he analyzes the Cowboys December schedule.

ackers and Tony Romo’s streak of November greatness came to a crashing halt.

Roy Williams had his best game of the season and his worst game of the season at the same time.  He went over 100 yards for the first time as a Cowboy and scored a somewhat meaningful touchdown seeing as how the Cowboys had not been shut out since the Quincy Carter era exactly 6 years ago.  But a solid finger can be pointed at Roy when it comes to this loss.  He not only fumbled the ball, which led to Green Bay touchdown, but he dropped a critical third down pass.  Still, he is not the only one culpable in this defeat.

s fine without him (although he has been doing a decent job of blocking).

The fact is that Roy Williams just isn’t as good as he and Jerry Jones thought he was when he signed that lucrative contract.  He did have one good year with the Lions, and he is still young but let’s put this in perspective.  He had 1,300 yards receiving on a bad football team that had to throw the ball a lot to stay in games.  Mike Martz was the head coach and his offense automatically has two 1,000 yard receivers.  For God sakes, Mike Furrey had a thousand yards that year and he came into the league as a safety.

resting little piece over at the Dallas Morning News' Cowboys Blog in which Cowboy's Wide Receiver Roy Williams say's he is unclear what his role is here in Dallas.

"I do not know what my role is" Williams said. "I'm just trying to help this team win, whether it's catching the ball, whether it's blocking downfield, whether it's whatever the game is calling for. My role is to ... make plays, whether it's in the run or pass game, I'm guessing."

Of course they lost some veteran talent: T.O., Greg Ellis, Anthony Henry, Roy Williams, and Chris Canty.  But they have reloaded and brought in viable replacements for all of those people.  The only spot that you might question is wide-receiver but T.O. is definitely on his way down and

I have a lot of faith in Roy Williams, but I feel that its with the other receivers that we will have the most success.  If Roy can become the possession receiver that Michael Irvin was, then we will have a great season.  If not, we will need the emergence of one of the younger receivers, otherwise JJ will go shoppin', and we really can't afford another trade like the one we gave up for Roy.

Week 3 Steelers at Bengals

Bengals have made some noise this off season picking players like Roy Williams, Andre Smith, Laveranues Coles and Ray Maualuga.  Carson Palmer should be healthy and in shape by the time this game rolls around.  While all this is good, the problem with the Bengals has never been a lack of talent, rather a lack of discipline.  The fact that they will be featured on this year's Hard Knocks is no help to this problem.  Coach Marvin Lewis has proven of the years that he doesn't have what it takes to lead men.  I'll give the Steelers 9/10.

The Cowboys traded a 1st and 3rd round pick for Roy Williams.  They re-worked his contract so that he is averaging roughly 9 Million per season.  Williams had 19 receptions for 198 yards and 1 TD in 10 games.  Jerry better hope that in the off-season Romo and Williams start designing some secret plays to get him involved!

The offense was out of sync all day.  Owens was more involved than he has been lately, while Roy Williams caught his first TD as a Cowboy.  Barber gutted out some tough yards as well.  When Witten was injured (ribs)…doom was near.  Surely the efforts on defense would go to waste.  The offense was sputtering with no imagination on the horizon.  The defense was playing lights out…holding the Bucs to field goals…bend but don’t break!

I wouldn't be surprised if new addition Roy Williams gets in the mix early with a touchdown reception or a few big receptions. Rams aren't the greatest team either. The Redskins last week had several turnovers giving the Rams the score or good field postion. Turnovers kill good teams as well. I pick the Cowboys in this one.
