Tashard Choice

n short yardage situations, and Felix Jones's complete inability to avoid tacklers.  Even Tashard Choice is more slippery than a complete explosive back.  And the Line could not fire off quick enough to catch some of the guys that were bursting into the backfield.   I think Garrett simply watched flm and determined what his team needed.  Young explosive lineman (3 of them to be exact) and a running back.  I don't disagree.

on film and teams are recognizing it.  There is some speculation that the Cowboys might trade Tashard Choice for Cromartie, but I would hope Jerry Jones isn’t that crazy.  Most experts say the deal won’t work because the Cowboys already have enough good corners, but you can never have enough good DBs.  But this dude just isn’t worth it.  Despite running a sub 4.4 40 yard dash and having freakishly long arms, this guy can’t even concentrate on football with all the mess he’s got going on off the field.  He’s had some previous run-ins with the law, but most recently it has been reported that he owes over $25,000 in child support.  He has 7 children by 6 different women…and he’s only 25!  And I may be mistaken but I’m pretty sure that his myspace nickname is “Crimetime”.  Wow!  Clearly this gentleman has a lot of growing up to do, and I personally hope he can get it together before his career is over.

y.  Felix Jones doesn’t seem very healthy either.  The best option at this point is Tashard Choice, but it seems like the Cowboys are having a hard time figuring out whom to give the ball to in what situations.  I just don’t understand passing the ball on 1st and goal from the 1 yard line when you have Choice and Barber.  Everyone knows Barber can take it in from the 1 yard line without any offensive linemen…give him the ball!  If the Cowboys score there, and get that touchdown from Roy at the end of the game they are still in it despite playing very poorly.

Tuesday evening hangover…

Here are some of my astute observations from the Cowboys’ Monday night victory against the Panthers:

     1. The Cowboys played a very gritty game.

re what to do initially, but I took my friend Steve Bass’ advice and I made the right choice- Tashard Choice that is.  Choice (doesn’t that word look really funny spelled out?) Is a back-up running back in Dallas and I knew at the beginning of the season he wouldn’t see much time unless someone got hurt.  Last season he stepped in when the top two running backs were injured and performed very well.  That time has come again.  Although he will be sharing carries with the electric Felix Jones, they are playing a porous run defense in the Carolina Panthers and he should get some goal line carries. I look for him to score between 10 and 15 fantasy points this week.

Marion Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice or as they are affectionately and appropriately named:  Crash, Dash and Tash,  need to be the new center of the offensive attack. It is through the running attack that passing game will be effective in the post TO offense.  I have a lot of faith in Roy Williams, but I feel that its with the other receivers that we will have the most success.  If Roy can become the possession receiver that Michael Irvin was, then we will have a great season.  If not, we will need the emergence of one of the younger receivers, otherwise JJ will go shoppin', and we really can't afford another trade like the one we gave up for Roy.

night to hand the New York Giants their second consecutive loss.  This was one exciting win as Tashard Choice once again proved that he is for real.  No Felix Jones?  No problem as Choice delivered in the fourth, a quarter that is usually reserved for Marion Barber.  Barber was not himself, he finished with 8 rushes for 2 yards.  That's an average of 0.3 yards a carry.  Choice on the other hand was 9 for 91 yards and a touch.  His average carry was 10.1 yards.  Big difference.  It's safe to say that without

etroit anyway.

The Loss

The one bright spot in the loss to Pittsburgh was Tashard Choice.  The rookie was fearless.  He took on that defense and almost broke a few.  The Steelers were worried about him in the second half and tighten up, which should have opened up the passing game.  Either the wind or Tony Romo screwed that up.  Tashard is good enough that with Marion Barber and Felix Jones, they improve the backfield beyond what the Giant's three headed monster can do.  My feeling is that if Marion can't go, then Tashard will do the job.  My concern last week was that he would be the lone back and the added pressure might cook the rookie.  But his play proved me wrong, and I was pleasantly delighted with the results.  The loss was not on

quo;re just…chokers?

Short Shots:

On a positive note, Tashard Choice of the Cowboys proved to be a capable RB.  Choice gained 88 yards rushing (the most allowed by the #1 Steelers defense all season) and another 78 yards receiving on 5 receptions.  Not too bad for a rookie RB drafted in the 4th round, in his first NFL start!

nce?

Utopia1dc:  Joe, the loss of Marion Barber will hurt the Cowboys for sure.  Tashard Choice will take his place in the line-up, but he is a relative unknown.  The ‘Boys will have to rely on Romo and the passing game a little more than they might have if Barber were available.  But, I think that this will actually be a good thing…let Romo sling it and hope for the best.  Go Cowboys!
